Exercise To Help You Understand Who You Are and Who God Has Created You To Be At Work At Beyond
My loves, if you have yet to read, our “43 tips to help you overcome caring about what others think or say about you” then click here. Within this resource, we focused on helping you understand others and their motives in sharing their opinions of you and helping you understand biblical principles to overcome caring what others think or say about you. Now we want to help you understand yourself and who God has created you to be.
This exercise should take about 30 minutes to set up and a week or 7 days to fully complete. You’ll need a pack of index cards, a marker, some scotch tape, or some posts its and wall space.
For each of the next 7 days, you will make 5 declarations. You will declare Who You Are (I am …), Who You Are Not (I am not …), What You Can Have In This Life (I have …) , What You Plan To Be or Do (I will …), and What You We Not Created To Be or Do (I will not …).
So for each of those categories, you will need 7 declarations. So for example, you will take 7 index cards or post its and on each individual post it or index card you will write one declaration of “I am …” Then you will take 7 more index cards or post its and on each, you will write one declaration of “I am not …” and the same will be done for declarations of “I have …”, “I will …” and “I will not …”.
We have example declarations linked below for each category
Declarations of Who You Are (I am …)
Declarations of Who You Are Not (I am not …)
Declarations of What You Can Have In This Life (I have …)
Declarations of What You Plan To Be (I will …)
Declarations of What You Were Not Created To Be or Do (I will not …)
Take 7 index cards or posts and write the a day of the week on each. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
So on your wall space, start by taping the days of the week in a row across the wall. Then under each day, tape one of the cards declaring “I am…” Do the same for “I am not”, “I have”, “I will”, “I will not”
For each of the next 7 days, when you wake up and before you go to sleep, go to the day of the week on the wall, and read the declarations aloud.
After you have completed the exercise for a week, come back and comment below, and let all of us in the FGCC community know how it went for you.
You can repeat this exercise for as many weeks as you like.
