– Ask for a raise in addition to the standard COLA allowance
Are you underpaid? Are you earning a salary below your peers in the same organization? Do you feel that you aren’t earning the market rate for your position? Has inflation increased year after year but you have gotten a raise? If the answer is yes to any of these, please
don’t be afraid to ask for a raise. Remember: closed mouths don’t get fed.
I believe everyone should get a standard cost of living adjustment allowance at no less than the rate of inflation. If you aren’t at least getting a COLA adjustment you are underpaid and need to look at what other companies are paying for positions similar to yours. If you do get the COLA adjustment and still feel underpaid don’t be afraid to ask for a raise. Know your worth and don’t be afraid to ensure that you are paid what you are worth.
